The subfamilies Scotylinae and Platypodinae can cause direct damage to plants through the construction of galleries and indirect damage, through the entry of phytopathogens. We report here the attack of Scotylinae and Platypodinae on stems of açai tree clump, Euterpe oleracea Mart., in a commercial plantation located in the municipality of Bujari, Acre state, Brazil. Stipe sections were cut longitudinally, and insects was removed from their galleries. The species Xyleborus volvulus (Fabricius) and Euplatypus parallelus (Fabricius) were identified, as well specimens of the subfamily Colydiinae. The attacked plants had many circular holes in the stipe, from 30 cm from the soil and the leaves were yellowish. Thus, the first record of the association of these species with açai tree clump in Brazil is made.
